This is an article I wrote on the role of immigration in the 2008 elections. I trace the historical role of immigration in US elections through legislation over the past 100 years, and describe the position of each presidential candidate and runningmate of the 2008 Presidential elections. I also discuss state immigration legislation, and recent Congressional voting records. Finally, I urge immigration professionals and those committed to the cause to advocate clients and the general public to consider immigration when casting their ballots. I will post the full text of the article as soon as I have it scanned (10/31/08).

This is an article about grassroots advocacy I wrote for the American Immigration Lawyers Association magazine. I described the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) Young Leaders as a model for successful advocacy by reaching out to mobilize young professionals from diverse backgrounds. I have been involved with HIAS, one of the first refugee resettlement agencies in the US, for several years as a volunteer.
